“Winning X games gold was a dream of mine since I was 16 but results and winning medals has never really been why I wanted to keep doing it, I don’t still compete just because I want to win a certain event. I still compete because there’s runs I want to do and tricks I want to do and I just want to ride, or take my riding as far I can before I retire and maybe that means winning a few more events and it maybe means getting last in a few more, I don’t know but for me that’s always been my driving force is my own riding. The medals and all that stuff is just kind of the bonus.
I think I only got like, I don’t want to put a time line but I definitely don’t have a ton of years left competing, I think I’m getting to the point where I’ve accomplished all the things I’ve wanted to accomplish, there’s other things in snowboarding that I would like to do. I would love to ride more back country, learn more about the mountains, film a video part but I’m going to snowboard until I die. I’m going to snowboard until my legs fall off.” – Spencer O’Brien, Pro Snowboarder, X Games Gold Medallist, Olympian. (7/7)
