“Haley, she’s definitely an inspiration, more like of a taskmaster. She cracks the whip, she’s the driving force behind a lot of stuff I do which is pretty cool. It’s tough, not every day is good. It’s definitely a unique relationship, it’s almost like being married. Not everyday the wife and husband get along or anything like that but it’s definitely unique. Not everyone is a couple, I know some people who didn’t get along at all off the ice but when they go on the ice they made it work and got their stuff done. For me, I need that relationship with the other person, I need that off ice relationship to have that on ice relationship, I can’t disconnect the two. I like having that support knowing that person’s got my back no matter what. A sense of humor is the most important thing to have. You just got to remind yourself, you got a great lifestyle going on, you’re an athlete.
