“When I stopped paddling it was mainly financial, I had to move on with school, had to make money for school but just couldn’t afford it anymore which kind of sucked. I gave it my all and things were kind of looking staggered for the past 3 years I was competing so I was like, I’ll finish school but I always knew I would be around the club and paddling but it took me a bit to get over it. Then I kind of got some peace of mind especially going to BC and then coming back to do Nationals, I was just like, this is awesome, it’s so much more fun this way.
But I think I’m done for a while at least, I’ll always come back and paddle, paddling’s awesome so definitely, if I’m back home for any amount of time, even if I come home for short periods of time, I’ll always be paddling. You know the cool thing is, it doesn’t have to end with Sprint either, there’s so many forms of paddling you can do anywhere. I’ve been trying out Surfski, SUP, there’s so many different types, it’s cool just to branch out and try new things as well.” – Lukas Hetzler, Canadian Canoer. (3/4)
