“Growing up playing baseball I had the natural ability that separated me from others, however once I started playing competively in top leagues in high school, then playing NCAA Division 1 ball and finally coming to the UBC I quickly learned that my talent would only get me so far. Throughout the first three years of college there were many times that I wanted to quit and no longer had a passion for the sport I grew up loving to play. Transferring to UBC has been the best decision I have ever made for my baseball career. Now I take just as much pride in my work off the field as on the field and my work ethic is what has allowed me to find success at this level, a resurgent passion for the game and have aspirations to someday play professionally.” – Liam Stroud, pitcher for the UBC Thunderbirds.
