“So I decided to retire around Christmas time, I thought I could do another year but when I was doing practices I knew how much work had to be put in to getting to where I want to be, I felt like my heart wasn’t in it anymore, and it wasn’t fair to my coach, myself to just go through the motion and not fair to anyone else on the team so I kind of decided that I was going to step down but I still wanted to be involved. I thought being a coach was a good transition out of paddling because I’m still connected. The thing is I didn’t want to just leave and never come back. I wanted to still be involved because I wanted to give as much information to so many athletes. All the information that I’ve learned, I want to give it to everybody so this country can get better in paddling because I want everybody to get better, I want our team to be strong and be competitive so I became a coach at South Niagara Canoe Club. I’ve also been going on trips, like the Canada Cup tour with the National Team, then to Olympic Hopes in a couple weeks. So that’s going to be cool, I like it because I’m still involved, that they can use me. I want to help, I want to help people just get better.” – KC Fraser, Olympic Kayaker, Pan Am Games Gold Medalist. (7/7)
