“The saddest moment was probably knowing that we didn’t qualify the year before in K4, and all the work that we put in was just based on 1 race. I remember it was one of my lowest points because the group had dispersed, we kind of ended on a sour note and we never really talked about it and there was no coach. They fired our coach, we had no National team coach or anything like that, there was lots of those moments where I was like ‘wow I’m really at this low point’, I was kicked off the team. But it was kind of the low point I needed, to put myself back into perspective why I wanted to do this, like ‘why do I love doing this?’, because I just love it, I don’t care about the money, I don’t care about all that, like I’ll find the money. That year it showed how much my family, my friends and the Provincial team were so behind me and my club, like it was a great feeling to feel that I wasn’t alone in this and we were all helping to get to that point.” – KC Fraser, Olympic Kayaker, Pan Am Games Gold Medalist.
