“I would definitely say, for mountain biking it’s the mental workout because you always have to be so focused. Snowboarding is a little bit different; just being out in the mountains it’s a stress free environment. I guess I just kind of got into working out in the gym, I’ve played hockey my whole life and it just carried over into my everyday lifestyle. I played hockey for 22 years, at school, in University and got pretty burnt out. I played at Quinnipiac, it’s in the ECAC in the states so we played Harvard, Yale and all the Ivys. And my coach was just kind of crazy so I got burnt out. I played professionally for a year in Austria which is how I got into snowboarding. I don’t regret stopping, I still play ball hockey and coach a little bit as well so that aspect of it I enjoy a lot more than playing myself. Just being around a team environment has molded me into who I am, also competitiveness, I think I will always be competitive.” -Kate Wheeler, Former Hockey Player.
