“Growing up I was always a natural athlete. I played multiple sports at a high level until the point that I had to decide that hockey was the sport that I wanted to pursue and see where it could take me. I have to say it’s been a bit of an adventure with its ups and downs. I made my first Junior A team at 18 and had a successful first year. During that year I accepted a scholarship to play Div 1 hockey at UMass Lowell. I remember sitting there after my first season at Umass thinking I don’t enjoy hockey as much anymore. I thought to myself, should I stay here? Or go back to BC and give this another shot. I decided to head back to Junior A to get another scholarship and I did, I received another scholarship to play Div 1 hockey at St. Cloud State University. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m just coming off of my sophomore season and I can’t wait to get back and start next season. I know it’s a big year for me and I know that this off season is going to be important in making sure my next year is a successful one.” -Jeff Smith, Div 1 Hockey Goalie with St Cloud State University.
