“It was always a dream for me to go to the Olympics, I never really felt the pressure. I guess this is a bit of a sad story so my dad passed away when I was 12, and for us it was just a bit of a memory you know, it was inspiring, it made it attainable, like my dad was my hero but I knew he was also a human and it made it possible, it made it that if I work really hard then maybe it can happen for me. I’ve had a lot of people on the way helping me out. I remember when I first qualified for the Olympics it was in Montreal where my dad raced the Olympics so it was pretty neat but I never felt the pressure, I think I was just inspired by it.” – Emilie Fournel, Olympic Kayaker, Pan Am Games Gold Medalist.
