“I’m not a big fan of blank platitudes. I think it’s impossible to give absolutely everybody that’s out there just one piece of advice so I’m not suggesting that my advice is so valuable that so many people want to hear it or whatever but we’re so so confronted with those platitudes on social media and Instagram and stuff like that, people constantly just doing these inspirational quotes and stuff. If I could ask everybody to do one thing, I think we’re in a place globally where people aren’t thinking for themselves enough. Critical thinking has seem to maybe fade away a little bit in the sense of the way we vote, the way we act, the way we treat each other, what we post, and what we talk about aren’t necessarily like our own design. People aren’t thinking enough to themselves and there’s lot of followers, everybody’s focused on how many followers you have and not really focused on doing something really meaningful so I guess I ask people to not be a follower, be a leader.” – Adam Van Koeverden, Olympic and World Champion, 4x Olympic Medalist, Multiple World Championship Medalist.
